- Bremen City is focusing on problematic real estate properties.
The city of Bremen is set to boost its attention towards rundown structures. Starting September, residents will have access to four dedicated contact points within a new administrative unit, as revealed by a spokesperson from the interior ministry. It was brought to light that certain property owners were neglecting their properties, leading to potential hazards for residents and others, as mentioned in an announcement. Several buildings were posing significant risks and were negatively impacting the nearby community due to their poor condition.
The administrative unit functions autonomously but is situated within the public orders department. It comprises four personnel from housing surveillance, building surveillance, and housing protection sections. The establishment of this unit was facilitated by collaborative efforts from the interior and building ministries.
Housing Senator Özel Uğsal stressed that "this administrative unit will allow us to address problem properties more efficiently." Interior Senator Ulrich Maurer further emphasized that in the future, "we should work towards swiftly identifying unacceptable conditions and promptly enacting necessary measures."
