- Commencement of building operations on A1 highway has initiated.

This morning, construction initiation took place on the A1 in Hamburg, specifically between the Moorfleet Tunnel and the Norderelb Bridge. A representative from Autobahn GmbH Nord verified that the project commenced punctually.

For the subsequent three weeks, the A1 from Hamburg-Billstedt to -Moorfleet heading towards Bremen will undergo shrinkage. Instead of the traditional three lanes, motorists will only have access to two. Furthermore, during certain nights, only one lane will be accessible, as per Autobahn GmbH Nord's announcement. From Tuesday morning, there will be anticipated delays in the direction of Bremen.

This German highway section, located in southeastern Hamburg, is one of the busiest, having approximately 136,000 vehicles passing daily, 21% of which are heavy-duty trucks. The A1 serves as a pathway for traffic coming from the Baltic region and Scandinavia, which journeys past Hamburg via the Elbe bridges. Autobahn GmbH confirmed that this particular section last underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2008.

During the construction, motorists traveling towards Bremen on the A1 might experience delays due to the reduced lanes between Hamburg-Billstedt and Moorfleet. This stretch of the highway, which requires renovation, leads to Bremen, a significant city in Germany.
