Munich - Elevator gets stuck: Fire department rescues 70-year-old man

The fire department has rescued a 70-year-old man from a stuck elevator in Munich. Due to a technical problem, the emergency services had to improvise, as the fire department announced on Wednesday. Normally, the brakes are released in such a case, causing the elevator car to descend. However, this did not work on Tuesday evening because the cabin was probably too light.

The rescue workers therefore decided to place heavy objects from the fire engine on the roof of the elevator car. However, according to the fire department, this did not have the desired effect either. Finally, the rescue workers carefully pulled the cabin upwards using a multi-purpose hoist. This enabled the 70-year-old to be freed from the elevator. The man had been in the cabin for more than an hour.
