Emergencies - Five puppies abandoned in cardboard box
A pedestrian has found five freshly born puppies in a cardboard box in a bush in the center of Hagen. The police announced on Monday that they are investigating who abandoned the Rhodesian Ridgeback babies in temperatures just above freezing.
The finder became aware of the box on Saturday night when he heard noises. When he opened it and discovered the animals, he took them to the nearby police station. The officers in turn alerted the animal shelter's on-call service. The criminal investigation department has initiated proceedings against unknown persons for violating the Animal Protection Act and is asking witnesses for information.
