Füchse Berlin narrowly win at Dinamo Bucharest
Just two days after their first defeat in the German Handball League at THW Kiel, the Füchse Berlin have shown a strong reaction in the European League. On Tuesday evening, the defending champions won 33:32 (16:17) at Romanian champions and title contenders Dinamo Bucharest. As a result, the Foxes remain top of Group G. Berlin's best scorers were Mathias Gidsel with nine goals and Lasse Andersson with seven.
The visitors got off to a good start. The defense stood firm and keeper Dejan Milosavljev immediately shone with sensational saves. The Serbian made 14 saves in the first half. He even made a total of 23, allowing the Foxes to quickly pull 7:3 ahead. They were also quick and determined in attack.
However, from the middle of the first half onwards, the visitors made an increasing number of missed shots and, above all, technical mistakes - too many. The Foxes found it increasingly difficult to cope with the Romanians' very physical defense. They even squandered the lead with a 0:5 run before the break.
Berlin also had defensive problems after the break. Too many rebounds ended up with the home side. Marko Kopljar was also shown the red card in the 42nd minute after three time penalties. However, the Foxes recovered defensively and regained the lead in the 43rd minute (27:25). They took the narrow lead to the finish line.
Despite the red card to Marko Kopljar, Füchse Berlin managed to overcome Dinamo Bucharest's physical defense in the second half, with Lasse Andersson contributing significantly to their comeback in the EHF European League, as they maintained their leading position in Group G after their 33:32 victory over the Romanian champions. Following their defeat at THW Kiel, Foxes Berlin displayed a resilient performance against a strong opponent, demonstrating their title contender status in the European League.
