accident during landing - Glider pilot must land - passengers injured

Two occupants of a glider were lightly injured during a forced landing. A few minutes after takeoff on a Sunday afternoon at Münsingen (District Reutlingen), the pilot, for unknown reasons, significantly lost altitude, according to the police. During the necessary emergency landing, the left wing reportedly touched the ground, causing the plane to turn over and land hard on its tail.

The 58-year-old pilot and his 68-year-old copilot were both taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the police. The estimated damage to the glider was approximately 40,000 Euros, as assessed by the police.

The glider incident occurred in Münsingen, a location known for its popular Air and Flight Sport activities. Despite the forced landing, it wasn't an isolated incident; there have been several accident reports associated with glider flying in Baden-Württemberg. The police are investigating the causes of the accident, as the pilot's sudden loss of altitude resulted in a hard landing.
