- Opulent Baroque Celebration in Gotha
On weekends, Schloss Friedenstein in Gotha's previous royal court comes alive once more with stylish individuals meandering through its gardens. This is the 21st year for the Baroque Festival, and its schedule includes ornate dances in the Grand Hall and diverse entertainments at the Ekhof Theater, a celebrated Baroque theater known for its operational stage machinery that is still in use. Puppeteers, narrators, and musicians are among the many participants in these festivities.
Attendees have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities, including creating brooches and learning about antiquated pastimes. Merchants offer items such as corsets and hats, while woodworkers and upholsterers display their talents. On Saturday evening, there are dance performances and a workshop, which is followed by a performance by the Gotha Eisenach's Thuringia Philharmonia. The classic Baroque picnic in the West Garden is scheduled for Sunday.
The Baroque Festival's schedule also includes a presentation on the historical origins of ornate dances in the Grand Hall. Visitors can delve deeper into the history of Schloss Friedenstein by exploring its rich past during guided tours.
