Rescue operation - Paraglider collides with tree and crashes

A paraglider crashed and sustained light injuries in the Landkreis Cham. The man had taken off alone from the Kleiner Osser peak near the Czech border on Sunday, according to the police. He reportedly made a forced landing approximately three hours into his flight, near the Scheiben saddle close to Lohberg, possibly due to insufficient altitude.

The man allegedly collided with a tree, descended about ten meters, and subsequently called for help. The police reported that he was taken to a hospital for precautionary medical treatment due to potential spinal injuries.

The incident occurred in the District of Cham, located in the Upper Palatinate region of Bavaria. Due to the remote location, a rescue operation was necessary to reach the injured man. Despite the traffic on the mountain roads, the rescue team successfully navigated to the accident site near Lohberg. The man's accident served as a reminder for all paragliders to thoroughly check their equipment and weather conditions before taking off.
