Celebratory Event - "Rock in Park commences under sunlight, featuring Keanu Reeves"
Sun, tunes, and vibrant outfits! Thousands of music enthusiasts congregated at Rock im Park in Nuremberg for day one, enjoying perfect festival weather. Approximately 70 bands will perform there until Sunday, making this event one of the largest in Germany. Its twin festival, Rock am Ring, is also underway at the Nurburgring in the Eifel, where the same bands will be playing. This year's top performers include Green Day, Die Ärzte, and Måneskin.
An afternoon highlight for many was the show by American rock band Dogstar, featuring Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves on bass. Upon taking the stage, audience members screamed with delight and held up adoring signs. An astonished Reeves simply smiled, refusing to Greet throughout the concert.
Essential items: Shades and hats
Many festive spirits danced furiously in front of the stages from afternoon onwards at Rock-im-Park. Lots of fans donned sunglasses and hats, while others sported elaborate headwear or outfits. The crowd just kept expanding into the afternoon. "The vibe is fantastic," said Marion from Nuremberg. "It's begun."
The young lady and her companion utilized Nuremberg's advantage to impressively prepare for the event: they arrived with glittering champagne bottles, kick-starting the festivities. Meanwhile, on the campsites, people were more concerned with cans of beer.
Comfy seating for the inflatable lounge
Carts hauled festival-goers' belongings onto the grounds - and some of these items were remarkable: a group of Bavarian friends had settled in front of their tents, comfortable on an inflatable couch and two armchairs. "We'll find out how we'll survive the weekend," said one of the guys. "So far, the air seems reliable."
Cannabis was noticeable on the grounds too. According to the event host, the cannabis use regulations and youth protection regulations apply, and the security contingent is trained to maintain these standards. "Our security personnel are trained to uphold these regulations." Whether the crowd will benefit from partial legalization by partaking in cannabis more freely at Rock im Park will become evident. "It doesn't influence my consumption patterns here," said a young man about to light a joint. "I haven't increased my cannabis intake."
Fewer alcoholic drinks
Attendees now drink less alcohol at Rock im Park, a trend that the security forces have observed. The vendors have responded by featuring alcohol-free cocktails. Considering the warm climate, Sohrab Taheri-Sohi from the Bavarian Red Cross, who heads the medical services, advises imbibing plenty of alcohol-free liquids and frequent sunscreen applications.
By late afternoon, Taheri-Sohi's team experienced a relatively peaceful day, treating patrons primarily for minor injuries and bug bites.
