Hamburg Regional Court - Scrap with gold powder manipulated? Fraud trial begins
At the Hamburg District Court, a process against three men begins on Monday (9.30 am) who are accused of defrauding Aurubis, the Hamburg copper producer, for over 15 million Euros. Charged are two suppliers, a father and son, and an materials tester of the corporation. The materials tester is accused of manipulating the value of delivered electronic scrap by adding Gold- and Silver powder to the samples.
The father (70) and the materials tester (63) are charged with common and commercial fraud in 47 cases. The younger supplier (45) is charged with aiding and abetting fraud. At meetings in the Osnabrück area, the father is alleged to have given the tester more than 100,000 Euro and two gold bars.
The process was supposed to start in June but was postponed by the court. The court initially set dates until the end of January 2025.
The fraud trial against the three men, including a materials tester from Lower Saxony, commenced at the District Court in Hamburg, stemming from their alleged involvement in defrauding Aurubis. The charges against the father, son, and materials tester involve commercial and common fraud in over 47 instances. The younger supplier is accused of aiding and abetting this fraudulent activity. Moreover, the materials tester is alleged to have manipulated the value of electronic scrap delivered to Aurubis by adding Gold- and Silver powder to samples, while the father is reported to have provided the tester with over 100,000 Euro and two gold bars during meetings in the Osnabrück area, contributing to the criminality.
