- SSV Ulm on loan to Bochum goalkeeper Thiede
2nd Division football club SSV Ulm has signed goalkeeper Niclas Thiede from Bundesliga club VfL Bochum on loan for at least one season. No purchase option for the 25-year-old was agreed upon, according to reports from Bochum. VfL hopes that Thiede will gain more playing time in Ulm. He will join the current goalkeeper trio of Stefan Ortag and Marvin Seybold.
Injuries have so far prevented Thiede from making a competitive appearance for Bochum. "At this stage of his career, competitive experience is crucial. We hope to provide that through this loan to the 2nd Bundesliga at a high level," said Bochum's sporting director Marc Lettau during their training camp in South Tyrol.
SSV's managing director Markus Thiele said just before the upcoming weekend's season opener: "We are very pleased that Niclas has chosen us. We now have a lot of quality on the goalkeeper position, and the guys will push each other."
SSV Ulm is located in the city of Ulm in southern Germany. This transfer opportunity could significantly boost Niclas Thiede's career, given Ulm's reputation as a competitive 2nd Bundesliga club.
