Government - State supports SMEs with digitalization
Small companies and tradespeople in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in particular are set to benefit from the state's digitalization funding from next year. As announced by the Ministry of Economic Affairs on Tuesday, grants will be awarded for business investments in companies with fewer than 100 employees that require public assistance in converting to digital processes. The state will cover up to 50 percent of the costs for the purchase of special hardware and software, up to a maximum of 50,000 euros.
A total of 1.5 million euros will be available for this in each of the next two years. Applications with so-called project outlines can be submitted to the Technology Consulting Institute from January 8th. The total investment must be at least 30,000 euros. The call for funding is aimed in particular at the manufacturing industry, the skilled trades and tourism businesses. Applicants must have a permanent establishment or branch in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The aim is to support SMEs in converting from analog to digital processes and thus make workflows more effective, explained Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer. "With the help of digitalization, automation and the use of artificial intelligence, the aim is to counteract the shortage of skilled workers."
