Potsdam /dpa/bb) - The summer weather with much sun and 30 degrees will be clouded by threatening showers and partly heavy storms in the afternoon in Berlin and Brandenburg, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). Localized tornado-like gusts of wind over 100 kilometers per hour are also possible. The areas of greatest risk this afternoon could not be determined yet.

A DWD meteorologist in Potsdam stated that hot air is flowing towards us before an cold front in the evening, which tends to cause thunderstorms. These could be severe: heavy rain, hail, and tornadoes are approaching. According to DWD, severe tornadoes up to 100 km/h and also wind with hurricane strength up to 110 km/h are possible.

Caution is advised outdoors: Trees with leaves offer a lot of attack surface for the wind. According to weather experts, trees can then also tip over in windstorms with 70 or 80 km/h.

Tomorrow the weather calms down again. Temperatures reach maximum temperatures of 21 to 23 degrees. It stays dry.

In Berlin and Brandenburg, the predicted weather change includes squalls and heavy storms, potentially posing a risk for localized tornado-like gusts of wind exceeding 100 kilometers per hour. This weather phenomenon is anticipated due to the approaching cold front, as reported by the meteorologist based in Potsdam at the German Weather Service (DWD). residents in Berlin should be aware that even mild windstorms, such as those with speeds of 70 or 80 kilometers per hour, can cause trees with leaves to topple.
